Tatewari: Our Grandfather Fire

One of the most deeply rooted traditions in the Wixárica world — an Indigenous community of profound cultural richness in Mexico — is the reverence for Tatewari, the Grandfather Fire.

He is the guardian who purifies, cleanses, and burns away what is impure within the human spirit. In their ancestral teachings, Tatewari revealed the sacred use of fire, not only to prepare food for the body, but to nourish and heal the soul.

Monthly Happenings: The Moonrise Project

Under the full moon, we return to the shore — drawn by rhythm, ritual, and the quiet power of gathering. This isn’t performance. It’s remembrance. Of what’s ancient. Of what’s alive. Of what we carry within. Your place in the circle is waiting.
